Larry Muñoz becomes the first Latino to run the Iditarod. In 1991, he completes the race again.

Tobby Gallo opened Los Arcos in Anchorage's Dowling Road. He sold the restaurant to their family in 2024.
A group of Latinos protested with flags and signs, demanding the Catholic hierarchy hold a mass in Spanish at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish

ALASS (Association of Latin American and Spanish Students) was created at UAA. Among other things, ALASS organized Hispanic Heritage Months celebrations and created a scholarship fund.

Student Organization Against Racism (SOAR) protested the cancellation of the Spanish column "Nuestra Columna" from The Northern Light.

UAA Students from Venezuela, Spain, Colombia, and Mexico created the traditional ballet Alma Latina.

UAA held La Tertulia Spanish Club for the first time.

Spanish Dual Immersion Program in Government Hill opened thanks to a three-year federal grant.

A play about Our Lady of Guadalupe's apparitions, directed by Denise Otaegui, was presented to celebrate Mexico's patron saint. This was the first Guadalupe celebration in Anchorage.

Daniel Esparza created a food pantry in Fairview and received congratulatory letter by President Clinton.

Students at UAA created The People's Federation with a representative of one of each ethnic club or organization from the Student Organization Against Racism (SOAR). A Latino representative was included.

Evelia Margarita Ehrenbard was named Mexican Honorary Consul in Alaska.

A group of Latinos strikes outside of the GCI building protesting the removal of Cristina Saralegui's show from Univision.
1996
Sister Veronica was sent to Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish to unite the congregation. She was instrumental in organizing the first Mañanitas celebration to Our Lady of Guadalupe at 5:00 am, which were held in 1996.

El Chicano Restaurant opened in Kodiak.
1996
The first celebration of Our Lord of the Miracles took place in downtown Anchorage.
1998
Las Ñustas de Alaska, a Peruvian dance group, began performing in local events in Anchorage.
