Mariachi Agave Azul was created in Anchorage.

Miguel's Cafe in Prudhoe Bay received its name after Miguel Ruiz, a Mexican immigrant who worked in the company's dining room for more than 20 years.

A fire destroyed Pepe's North of the Border, first Mexican restaurant in Utqiagvik.

Community leaders organized an immigration workshop, which was attended by numerous Latinos, as well as Senator Lisa Murkowski.

The Latino community participated in the Police Navidad celebration in the Dena'ina Center.

Liz Vázquez became the first Latino woman elected to the Alaska House of Representatives. She began serving in 2015.

Nicolás Olano and Lara Nations opened Nations Law, the first immigration firm led by a Latino in Alaska.

Dominican community celebrated their patron saint, Our Lady of Altagracia.

Sol de Medianoche was published for the first time. It was the first bilingual newspaper in Alaska.

Felix Rivera became the second Latino to sit in the Anchorage Assembly.

A group of Latinos from many countries organized the Fundraiser Mexico-Puerto Rico.

Non-profit organization Enlaces was created with the mission of empowering, educating, and engaging Alaska’s Latino community by acting as a catalyst for an equitable presence and voice.

Over 500 people gathered in Cuddy Midtown Park for the first Fiesta Under the Midnight Sun. The festival had a second iteration in 2018.

Architect Monica Sullivan completed the Loussac Library Remodel.

Anchorage Museum began celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month in coordination with Sol de Medianoche and Enlaces.

Anthropologist Sara Komarnisky published a book about immigrants from Acuitzio, Michoacán in Anchorage.

Gabriela Olmos won an International Latino Book Award with a book about Anchorage's diverse children.
